Syphonic Drainage: Fullflow
Fullflow designed, manufactured and installed syphonic drainage systems to this large distribution centre in Bedford. A total roof area of 41, 325 m2 is drained at high velocity to handle a primary system rainfall intensity up to 124mm per hour and a secondary system rainfall intensity up to 108mm per hour. Only 258 outlets and 21 downpipes were required in total for both primary and secondary systems upon the building. On a typical warehouse building up to 80% less downpipes plus fewer outlets are required when compared to a gravity system alternative.
Fullflow’s ISO 9001:2000 certified syphonic system features a fully engineered railing system to minimise the risk of pipe movement and possible damage to joints. Unlike pipe hanging systems which only use pipe clips, the Fullflow solution involves the use of a close tolerance pipe clip and rail system, which provides support and restraint along the entire length of the polyethylene pipe. The system works by absorbing the expansion and compression forces of the pipe, to ensure that any movement due to changes in temperature is kept to a minimum.
